Our Mission
Teachers care for our children in many ways that go beyond the curriculum, often paying money out of pocket for school supplies and other items that benefit kids, and they do it for pay that is far below market value for their level of education and skills.
Having a sudden financial crisis can keep teachers away from the classroom or from attending to their own needs due to economic strain.
A Teacher in Need NC seeks to help educators in North Carolina facing personal financial hardships.
How we started:
I'm a teacher in North Carolina, and over the past few years, I have donated sick days to teachers in need and collected school supplies and gift cards for teachers impacted by hurricanes. I was inspired to create A Teacher in Need after a new teacher in Raleigh needed assistance when her state trooper husband was shot in the line of duty.
Teachers take care of our children... shouldn't we take care of them in return?
